I love designers that take chances and don't get caught up in the social ideals of what is said to be beautiful.
Art by definition is, 'the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful,
appealing, or of more than ordinary significance'. Beauty is relative. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Alexander McQueen was an extraordinary artist. He pushed the limits and opened a lot of peoples eyes to the meaning of fashion and furthermore the meaning of beauty.
From the idea that cultivates in the mind, to the sketch in the notebook and the making of the pattern. Choosing of the fabrics, colors, findings. Draping of the fabrics, pinning and sewing and sewing and sewing and sewing. To the finished product walking down the runway, to the theatrics that exemplify the entire collection created. McQueen did it all beautifully.
"...his wildly imaginative collections and unconventional approach made me appreciate that there could be so much more to fashion than empty branding and recycled trends." Harriet Quick, The Observer
The design House of Alexander McQueen lives on through Creative Director Sarah Burton. Long live McQueen!
