What I Wore: Tied up With a Bow

I'm hoping this is the last hurrah of Winter, with the recently crisp weather. Though I did get to wear my Vintage Plaid Jacket one last time, I'm SO ready to welcome the warmth of Spring (and the clothes that go along).

If you haven't caught on yet, I'm obsessed with Menswear! Please see exhibit a & b above and below, with the ribbon bow tie. It's such a cute little touch of masculine without feeling uptight and overdone. But don't worry I will be rocking the traditional bow tie (I've been holding off for the right moment). Stay tuned!

What I Wore: POC

Pop of Color (POC, duh!). Is what I'm obsessed with right now... well and Stylist Brad Goreski of It's a Brad, Brad World. I kinda borrowed that term from him! Brad is so incredibly cute and fuels my fire for menswear! I love his little bow ties, bright pops of color, denim on denim (did I mention he's a fellow Canadian?), cute little pups and probably most of all, that he totally reminds me of my good friend Marco! Who is also incredibly cute and stylish (see his blog here).

I've had a love affair with you, for quite sometime. Yet you have always been so out of reach... until March 8th!!!!

Marni for H&M (I've been so excited for this!) collaboration will hit stores March 8th. I'm not going to get my hopes up, cause people be getting crazy for designer studs via H&M. Happy Valentines Day all you lovers out there! Today is a day to show love, give love and receive it. Make someone feel appreciated, give a friend a hug or throw out a few extra smiles today.

In the name of V-Day here is a little pink action for you! I was SO excited about this amazing jacket when I found it 50% off at Forever 21... and its real suede! I live for great finds like this! I'm really not a pink person at all, but when I saw this (and the price) I could not pass it up... plus I would say it's more of a salmon color, duh. Perfect transitional jacket for Spring... and Valentines Day!

What I Wore: Grandma Sweater

Ok so I'm not actually wearing my Grandma's sweater, but I'd like to call this look... Grandma Chic. Got my cute little knit sweater with a button up underneath and a bun on top of my head. I added leopard loafers and a statement necklace to update the look.

But coincidentally (or maybe not) I'm standing in front of some art from my Grandma (and Mom). I've recently been obsessed with wall art (like this) and put this little frame collage together.

I've recently been obsessing over lipstick, crazy pops of color! It's such an easy, cheap and fun way to spice up your look. (oh and side note, I love that MAC is using Iris Apfel as their cover girl collab of the moment, so AWESOME!)

Right now I'm loving oranges, bright pinks, bold fushias, and hot reds. Then I love pairing these crazy lips with a casual outfit for a contrast!

Layer, upon layer, upon layer... is how I keep warm in chilly Southern California winters. Even though I grew up in Canada, I've become accustomed to California fashion- warm weather dressing, all year long. Since I pretty much only own thin cottons, silky fabrics, denim and light knits... I have to pile them all on to keep warm on a chilly day here in California.

I don't mind, it's so comfy [and fun] to pile it all on! How do you keep warm and stylish now that it's getting cold outside?

Say hello to Zoey, my new baby! She showed up at my Mom's front door on Thanksgiving. A little Thanksgiving gift, I think! Since we couldn't find her home and no one came looking for her, she came home with me and my boyfriend!

Having a puppy, so giddy and playful, brings so much happiness to your home (and a little stink, this one isn't potty trained!). It's almost like looking through rose colored glasses... you can't get mad at that cute little fur ball, no matter what she does!

You will definitely be seeing more of my little Zoey, she won't leave my side! And Happy December!

Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday because you get to eat with no regrets (and have leftovers for days!). So in the name of a holiday all about eating, I decided to be comfy! Layers and stretchy denim... but cute shoes of course!

Pops of Vintage

This past weekend was gloomy, raining and the perfect weather for thrifting! For some reason when its ugly out all I want to do is rummage through racks, searching for some treasures. So that's exactly what I did! I spent a few hours at my favorite thrift store in Long Beach and came out a winner!

Thrifting is one of those things I can easily get overwhelmed with and I defiantly need to be in the mood to take it on. I always mentally prepare myself before I get to the store. I think of the key pieces, colors and fabrics I'm going to look for. Then when I get to the store, I littering comb through every rack looking for my specific 'key pieces'.

This time around my key pieces to look for were: pops of color, blazers, silk, collared shirts, plaid and high-waisted denim. I found a ton of stuff! The next step is to try everything on. Only keep the items that: fit you good, have no stains and only need slight alteration, if any.

I ended up with two amazing blazers in orange and bright red, vintage high-waisted jeans (I will be cutting into shorts), a plaid blazer jacket and a teal silk blouse with military details.

Everything was $5! Which means I only spent $25 on everything (plus dry cleaning for a few pieces). I'm so excited to post some outfits with my new finds!

So I'm kinda obsessed with booties, well shoes in general! I was so excited when I found these suede babies on sale at Aldo! They are almost an exact replica of Rag & Bone's Newbury boot (which is amazing and comes in every color/print you could think of... Cow print booties anyone?). BUT these were a fraction of the cost. I love finding great deals like this!

Speaking of great deals... Black Friday is a week away! Are you going to attempt the madness?

Some of my most prized possessions are the priceless vintage pieces that have been handed down to me. My Mom is always giving me her old jewelry and family heirlooms. I love these pieces because they have a story behind them and they lived a life before given to me.

My vintage Dooney & Bourke purse was a gift from my boyfriends Mother. It was originally a gift from my boyfriend to his mother, when he was a little boy. Good memories are associated with it.

I love my Moms old Gap denim jacket, I remember her wearing it all the time. And now I wear it all the time. Seen here and here. I also recently found my Moms old leather satchel purse, worn here. Keep your eyes peeled for these pieces to pop up!

Photo Story: Roughin It

Last weekend the boyfriend and I, along with our good friends Matt and Tash, spent the weekend camping up in Big Bear. This was my first time doing the 'real' kind of camping. We slept in a tent (with no blow up mattress), roasted weenies in the camp fire, went hiking through the woods, brushed our teeth outside and peed in the wilderness! It was great, I felt at one with nature!

It was a perfect time to be out in the middle of the forest, with the leaves starting to change colors and the briskness of fall starting to form around us. I think I might be turning into a wilderness girl!

2. Right when I got back I got sick- how perfect!

3. I'm in the process of looking for a new home and moving sucks!

4. I've just been trying to milk this vacation feeling as long as possible. I.e. I've been extremely lazy (my bad).

Secondly, how cool is this background!? If it doesn't bring back memories of school photos in the 90s... then maybe a splatter paint back drop might?

Philip Lim's flagship store, located in West Hollywood, is anything but the ordinary high end boutique. From the exterior, the store appears to be a spiked white cloud. As you enter the structure the same spiked surface follows you through the walls, into different spaces filled with beautifully crafted clothes. The design of the building is to mimic the structure of the interior of a garment. Curves, different textures and practical design form this must see showroom. Modern yet classic; the unique design of the building, housed the collection perfectly.

Take a visit to this store and you will feel like you entered into another universe, or maybe just the inside of your outfit.

What I Wore: A San Diego Bay Wedding

So this post is just slightly past due (as in the wedding was in June!)... but better late than never. And totally wroth the wait, right?

The wedding took place in San Diego, Ca right on the bay, overlooking a gorgeous downtown San Diego skyline. What was even more beautiful was my close friend (oh and Bride) Alisa! She's already gorgeous to begin with but WOW glowing and breathtaking on her special day! Not to mention her Husband looked very handsome himself (ugh just a gorgeous little couple they are!).

The night was filled with tears (I get SO emotional at weddings), laughter, dancing, dancing (and dancing), delish food (juicy steak mmm), memorable speeches and just an amazing (and surreal) wedding! The day was surreal in that I lived with the Bride, Alisa, for 2 years while dorming in college. We went through a lot together, partied a lot together (heheh its college HELLO) and had a lot of great memories together. It felt so good to see her so unbelievably happy... and it felt so unreal that I was sitting there watching her get married! Time is flying by and what was thought of a far off future fantasy, is now becoming reality! It's defiantly a weird feeling to acknowledge.

Anyways enough heart to heart... feel free to relive Carlo and Alisa's wedding through these gorgeous photos (and you can pretend you were there if you want, it was so much fun!!)

Photo Story: A Festival of Garlic

This past weekend I traveled 5 hours North to celebrate the wonderful vegetable that is: Garlic! We visited Gilroy, the 'Garlic Capital of the World', to bask in the lovely scent of Garlic, drink beer, enjoy live bands and chow down!

The festival is a must if you are in Northern California. Plus the food is to die for and the people watching is fantastic!

What I Wore: A Surprisingly Good Find

The other day, I helped out my friend Beth with some quick, last minute buys for a photo shoot. Unfortunately, (or actually, fortunately) Sears was our only option. And to our surprise, we were pleasantly surprised by what we found and even more so by the prices.

Sears is currently doing a designer collaboration with French Connection, called UK Style. I found quit a few great pieces, at an even greater price! I ended up with a blush colored asymmetrical tank for only (dun dun dun) $8! I love finding a good deal!

So the moral to the story is... there are fashionable, fab finds everywhere. You just gotta keep your eyes open!

Photo Story: Lake Tahoe

Last weekend, I took a much needed, mini vaca (a whole 4 days!). The Boyfriend and I joined his family up in Lake Tahoe, for an amazing weekend at a lake house in the forest.

Above all it was extremely beautiful! Living in LA surrounded by freeways, buildings, and man made landscapes, you tend to forget about that thing called nature. I definitely forgot nature existed until we touched down in Lake Tahoe. I literally had to ask if what I was looking at was real; a ginormous crystal clear lake, bluer than the sky and surrounded by huge mountains drizzled with snow (did I mention it was still a comfortable 75 degrees out?).

Our mini vacation started with a boat ride down the lake, window shopping the million dollar mansions on the shore and taking in some rays and cool brews. That was basically the whole trip in a nut shell, but then throw in a Celebrity Golf Tournament in the forest (yet still on the lake) and casino gambling. Hands down the best little getaway this Summer!

Take a trip to Tahoe through my little photo story below... then take a real trip, it's definitely worth it!

What I Wore: Sunday @ The Mondrian

Sunday was 'Fun Day' for my Stylistas and I, celebrating one of our models birthdays and drinking Bloody Marys by the pool. We started the day off at The Standard pool in Hollywood for appetizers and drinks in the sun. Then headed over to The Mondrian as the sun started to disappear. This was my first time visiting The Mondrian and I fell in love. I love the mix of modern and organic design throughout the hotel and pool area. I defiantly walked away with some design inspiration for my own home.

We ate, drank, gossiped and enjoyed beautiful LA. Great Sunday with my girls!

What I Wore: The Lace Shorts

Could be mistaken for lingerie or very sexy granny panties, if worn incorrectly. Lace shorts (or anything lace for that matter) is one of my favorite summer trends right now! I'm a big fan of mixing hard & soft design aesthetics together. And also mix & matching different textures. These shorts make it so much fun for me to dress up.

Today I paired my feminine lace shorts with combat boots and a denim shirt. I love the mix of lace and denim, and then extreme masculine (combat boots are sooo manly) with a delicate fabric. Love! A few weeks ago I paired the cute little shorties with an extra long knit (it was chilly) and my little booties (don't forget the over-sized tee I knotted up like usual!).

Love finding these staple pieces for my wardrobe, makes me feel a tiny bit better about spending ALL my money on clothes (just kidding Mom and Boyfriend!).

What I Wore: Burnt Orange REMIX

Like I said before, I have SO many ideas for this burnt orange, long cardigan (trust me, much more to come!). Last time I paired it with a LBD and my fav beige booties, remember? Today, I paired it with my high waisted shorts and a screen print tee, I re-discovered in my closet. It was perfect for a day at the office.

Here I am 'at the office', which consists mostly of: my trusty steamer, photographers, racks (and racks and racks) of clothes and models running around half naked! Alex Rodriguez, one of the talented photographers I get to work with, snapped a few candids of me today. Don't they look UH-mazing (boys got talent and a super nice camera!). Check this guy out!
